1. Overview
Eduync (“Eduync”, “we”, “us” or “our”) provides a mobile school-management application used by educational institutions and their authorized users. This Privacy Policy describes the information processed through the Eduync mobile application, the reasons for processing it, how it may be shared, and the choices available to users.
The app is not intended for public account creation. A school selects the services it uses, creates user accounts, assigns roles and permissions, and decides what school information is made available through the app.
2. Eduync’s Role and the School’s Role
For information entered and managed by a school, the school generally determines why and how that information is used. Eduync processes the information to provide the app and related technical services to that school.
Users should first contact their school regarding the accuracy of school records, account access, permissions, correction requests, or deletion requests. Eduync may assist the school in handling such requests.
3. Accounts and Access
Accounts may be provided to school administrators, teachers, parents, students, drivers and authorized staff. The school may provide a username and password and may reset, suspend or terminate access.
Eduync may process authentication information, session tokens, account identifiers, school identifiers and role information to sign users in, keep accounts secure and show only the functions permitted for each role. Passwords should be stored using secure one-way protection and are not intended to be displayed in readable form.
4. Information We Process
The information available in the app depends on the school’s configuration and the user’s role.
| Category | Examples | Primary purpose |
|---|---|---|
| Account and identity information | Name, username, user ID, role, school, email address or telephone number when provided by the school | Authentication, account administration and role-based access |
| Student and academic information | Student profile details, class, section, timetable, attendance, examinations, grades and related school records | Delivering authorized school and academic functions |
| Parent, teacher, staff and driver information | Names, role assignments, contact details where entered by the school, class responsibilities or transportation assignment | School administration and communication |
| Transportation information | Bus, driver, route, stop, student transportation assignment and trip status | Managing school transportation and authorized bus tracking |
| Communication information | School announcements, app messages, notices and notification delivery information | Providing school communications |
| Technical and security information | Device type, operating system, app version, IP address, timestamps, login activity, error logs and security events | Security, troubleshooting, performance and fraud prevention |
| Push notification information | Device notification token and notification preferences | Delivering authorized app notifications |
Information not required by the current app
Based on the current Eduync mobile app functions, the app does not require users to upload homework, documents or profile photographs. The app does not request camera or photo-library access for those purposes.
5. Driver Location Information
Location permission is used for accounts assigned the Driver role when the school enables transportation tracking. Location is not required from parents, students, teachers or other non-driver users for ordinary app use.
Driver location may be processed to:
- show the current or recent location of an assigned school bus;
- support an active school transportation route or trip;
- allow authorized school personnel and authorized parents to follow transportation progress;
- support route safety, operational review and transportation troubleshooting.
Depending on the app version, device settings and permission selected by the driver, location may be collected while the transportation screen is open and may continue during an active trip when background location is enabled. The app should not use driver location for advertising.
Drivers can control location permission through their device settings. Disabling location may prevent live transportation tracking from operating. The school may also define when a driver is expected to activate or stop an authorized trip.
6. App Permissions
| Permission or capability | Who uses it | Why it is used |
|---|---|---|
| Location | Drivers only | Live bus or route tracking during authorized transportation activity |
| Notifications | Authorized users who enable them | School announcements, attendance notices, transportation updates and other school communications |
| Internet/network access | All users | Signing in, synchronizing school data and communicating with Eduync servers |
Eduync asks for a permission when it is needed for a relevant function. Users may deny optional device permissions, although the related function may then be unavailable.
7. How Information Is Used
Eduync may process information to:
- authenticate users and maintain secure sessions;
- provide role-based school, attendance, academic, communication and transportation functions;
- display information supplied or approved by the school;
- deliver notifications and operational messages;
- provide live driver or bus location to authorized viewers;
- protect accounts, investigate misuse and maintain audit records;
- diagnose errors, maintain the service and improve reliability;
- comply with legal obligations and enforce applicable agreements.
Eduync does not use school records or driver location for unrelated behavioural advertising.
9. Storage and International Processing
Information may be stored or processed using secure infrastructure located in the country of the school, the country of the Eduync service provider, or another country where an approved infrastructure provider operates. Where required, appropriate contractual, technical or legal safeguards should be used for cross-border processing.
10. Security
Eduync uses reasonable administrative, technical and organizational safeguards designed to protect information. These may include encrypted network connections, authentication controls, role-based permissions, password protection, logging, monitoring, backups and restricted administrative access.
No system can guarantee absolute security. Users must protect their login credentials, use secure devices and report suspected unauthorized access promptly to their school.
11. Data Retention
School records are retained according to the school’s instructions, contractual requirements, operational needs and applicable law. Technical logs and backups may be kept for limited periods for security, continuity, troubleshooting and legal compliance.
When information is deleted from active systems, residual copies may remain temporarily in protected backups until the normal backup cycle removes or overwrites them.
12. Children and Student Privacy
Eduync is designed for use by educational institutions and may process information about students, including minors, under the direction of their school. Students cannot independently register for Eduync. Their accounts and permissions are created and managed by the school.
The school is responsible for providing required notices and obtaining any consent or authorization required by the laws applicable to the school and its students. Eduync processes student information to deliver the contracted educational service and not for targeted advertising.
13. Access, Correction and Deletion
Depending on applicable law, users or their legal guardians may have rights to request access, correction, deletion, restriction, objection or a copy of personal information.
Because the school manages accounts and school records, requests should normally be submitted first to the school. A user who cannot reach the school may contact Eduync through the contact method below. Eduync may need to verify identity and coordinate with the school before acting on a request.
Deletion may be limited where information must be retained for educational, contractual, security or legal reasons.
14. Notifications
The app may send school announcements, attendance notices, academic information, transportation updates, security alerts and other operational communications. Users can control device-level notification permissions, although some important information may then need to be checked manually inside the app.
15. Third-Party Services
Eduync may depend on third-party infrastructure for hosting, maps, push notifications, security monitoring and app distribution. Those providers process limited information needed to perform their services and may have their own privacy terms. Eduync does not authorize them to use school data for their own unrelated advertising.
16. No Sale or Advertising Tracking
Eduync does not sell personal information and does not use student records or driver location to track users across unrelated apps or websites for targeted advertising.
17. Changes to This Policy
This Privacy Policy may be updated to reflect changes in the app, legal requirements or service practices. The updated version will show a revised “Last updated” date and may be presented in the app or through another appropriate notice. Material changes may require additional notice where required by law.
18. Contact Us
Questions about school records or an Eduync account should first be directed to the school that issued the account.
